Andrew Collins

Postdoctoral Trainee

Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences

Andrew received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Kansas in 2024. Before joining UConn to work in the Language and Brain lab with Dr. Emily Myers, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Multilingual Aphasia and Dementia Research Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. His research examines the neurocognitive and neurophysiological mechanisms of language processing in both neurotypical individuals and people with aphasia. In particular, he investigates how the mind and brain are able to process language(s) in real time and which processes fail when the brain is damaged. He does this by examining sentence processing across many populations, including native speakers, second-language learners, and monolingual or multilingual individuals with aphasia due to stroke or dementia.
