I am broadly interested in the neurocognitive architecture underlying conceptual knowledge, spanning concrete objects (e.g., cups) to abstract ideas (e.g., courage). My work focuses on how this knowledge is recruited during the comprehension of described events. Specifically, I ask: What aspects of situational (schematic) knowledge are activated when processing concepts? And how do sensorimotor experiences shape the ways we access them? Ultimately, this understanding can inform strategies to support clinical populations with reduced lexical access to certain aspects of conceptual knowledge.
